AMBULATORY BLOOD PRESSURE IN RELATION TO PLASMA AND URINARY MANGANESE

چکیده
Objective: The association of blood pressure (BP) with manganese, an essential trace element required for human health, remains poorly studied. Design and method: In 734 randomly recruited Swiss participants (mean age, 47.5 years; 51.4% women), we related ambulatory BP to two biomarkers, plasma manganese (pMn) the urinary excretion (uMn). To allow diurnal variation, assessed uMn over 24 h during wakefulness sleep, using split urine samples. Results: h, day- night-time systolic/diastolic BPs averaged 119.8/78.1, 123.8/81.2 107.0/68.3 mm Hg; corresponding medians were 199.5, 83.0, 51.5 umol median pMn 0.52 ug/L. analyses dichotomized by greater was associated higher (+4.1/+ 2.3 P<= 0.0003), daytime lower (3.5/ 1.9 0.0067) nighttime (+2.9/+ 1.2 0.046). multivariable-adjusted analyses, significance (P<= 0.030) retained positive diastolic systolic in relation at night. sizes a twofold increment biomarkers amounting 0.77 Hg (95% confidence interval [CI], 0.08–1.47 Hg), 0.97 (CI, 0.20–1.76) 1.33 0.20–2.50 respectively. Conclusions: conclusion, there associations between

Relation of 24-h ambulatory blood pressure with plasma potassium in essential hypertension.
The established associations between blood pressure (BP) and electrolytes are mostly based on either dietary intake or urinary excretion data. We measured office BP, ambulatory BP (ABP) using the automated oscillometric ABPM-630 device, and plasma electrolytes in 82 essential hypertensive patients to examine the relation between BP and plasma electrolytes. Significant negative correlations were...
متن کاملRelation between job strain, alcohol, and ambulatory blood pressure.
"Job strain" (defined as high psychological demands and low decision latitude on the job) has been previously reported to be associated with increased risk of hypertension and increased left ventricular mass index (LVMI) in a case-control study of healthy employed men, aged 30-60 years, without evidence of coronary heart disease. We hypothesized that job strain would be associated with increase...
متن کاملPlasma Fibrinogen, Ambulatory Blood Pressure, and Silent Cerebrovascular Lesions
Objective—Twenty-four–hour ambulatory blood pressure (24-hour ABP) values are considered a powerful predictor of stroke. Silent cerebrovascular lesions are associated with an increased risk of stroke. Because fibrinogen is a major determinant of plasma viscosity, an elevated fibrinogen level might also be associated with stroke risk. We evaluated the association of 24-hour ABP and plasma fibrin...
متن کاملComparison of ambulatory blood pressure and clinic blood pressure in relation to cardiovascular diseases in diabetic patients
The aim of this study was to evaluate prognostic values of ambulatory blood pressure (ABP) and clinic blood pressure (CBP) in diabetic patients with hypertension. A total of 450 diabetic hypertensive patients without established cardiovascular diseases were enrolled and 416 patients who had finished 12months' follow-up were included in final analysis. Baseline data were collected and Cox propor...
